In 1933, three Swedish orienteering champions invented the liquid-filled compass, a compass that was more precise and easier to use compared with other compasses of the time. It was with this new invention that the entrepreneurs established the Silva brand.

Silva makes sure to test all of their new products, and then compare their findings with other sources, like the input they receive from their clients all over the world. Using Scandinavia’s varying seasons, Silva exposes their outdoor gear to ‘the ultimate test’, which challenges them as well. Silva’s headlamps have received many awards, but the company continues to update and reinvent their products to continually search for the best designs and functions for their products.

Silva’s products, including headlamps, compasses, pedometers, binoculars, professional instruments and other products are targeted towards sport, outdoors and professional uses.
